Couples therapy isn't just my profession-it is a calling rooted in deeply personal experiences.
Years ago, I knew a couple who reached a point in their marriage where, for the life of them, they could no longer share kind words. In public, they appeared fine. Behind closed doors, they were drowning in pain.
Over the years, I learned that pretending things are okay is never a solution. It is exhausting. It is like carrying an unbearable burden-worse, it's like having two massive elephants in each ear, blocking you from hearing the very soul of your marriage crying out for help. Witnessing the lack of professional guidance in my entourage for couples experiencing severe crisis broke my heart. It was in those moments that I made up my mind to become a dedicated couples therapist.
I chose to train in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)-an evidence-based approach centred on attachment, connection, and emotional safety.
Recently, a couple came to work with me. Together, we worked tirelessly to create a space where they could finally drop their defences and be vulnerable and authentic with one another. With guided support, they learned to feel truly seen and heard, stepping out of repetitive cycles of pain and into the restoration light.
Research shows that couples often wait about seven years in their pain before reaching out for help. You and your partner have carried the burden of disconnect far too long.
Reaching out for support is not a sign of weakness-it is an act of profound courage. Your marriage deserves kindness, respect, mutual support during life's storms, and a shared vision for the future. You deserve a connection where closeness replaces distance.
I want to encourage you to value your relationship, your partner, and yourself by taking that first step. There is hope, and you do not have to navigate this alone. Come, let's walk together toward the light of restoration that shines ever brighter.
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
English, French, and Haitian Creole. I provide clinical services, resources, and sessions in the language where you feel most comfortable expressing your emotions.
My primary framework is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Grounded in attachment theory, EFT helps couples identify the repetitive negative patterns or arguments they fall into and transform them into opportunities for connection. Instead of just focusing on surface-level communication tricks, we get to the heart of emotional security, ensuring both partners feel safe, valued, and truly heard.
If you and your partner find yourselves stuck in the same arguments, feeling emotionally distant, struggling to share kind words, or carrying a heavy burden of past hurts, it is time to seek support. You do not need to wait until a crisis point or wait years in pain before reaching out. Seeking help early helps protect and restore your connection much faster.
